The Advanced Measurement Electronics Engineer position has been created to develop and deploy innovative measurement solutions to benefit the Mercedes AMG HPP Power Unit. As a technical engineering specialist you will propose and Implement measurement solutions to validate simulation models. Drawing up on your knowledge and experience you will also propose and Implement measurement solutions to understand and analyse PU failures.

Role Specific Accountabilities:

  • Identify innovative measurement solutions that could benefit the Power Unit (PU)

  • Analyse transducers’ characteristics to define best suited electronics and logging system

  • Liaise with the Electronics team and external contractors to deliver functionally correct systems

  • When necessary design electronic components for transducer signal conditioning

  • Validate measurements

  • Implant bespoke systems in the PU / car

  • Use and develop the tools required for time-history and trend analysis

  • Use and develop post-processing tools and automate repetitive tasks

  • Real-time Algorithm development – taking lessons learnt from the post-processing and applying them to real-time processing hardware

  • Interface internally developed tools with the existing Business systems - Transform results files into a common format

  • Produce all relevant documentation to allow deployment within the business (fitting, connecting and logging instructions)

  • Check and understand specific demands from Product Engineering and/or Simulation departments; advise on the most suitable solution for the application

  • Keep up to date with the latest measurement technology and practices

Knowledge, skills and experience required:

 

Essential

  • Proven track record of designing signal processing electronic systems

  • Proven track record of developing post-processing tools

  • Proven track record of dealing with measurement data files and data logging issues

  • Excellent knowledge of sensing techniques

 Desirable

  • Good Knowledge of Power Unit environment and constraints

Qualifications:

  • It is essential that the applicant possesses a high grade degree in a relevant engineering subject

  • Disciplined and methodical

  • Able to work to fixed demanding time frames and work exceptional hours when required
